The Department of Computer Science at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (RCSS) launched its Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program in 2001, affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The department has consistently achieved a "Platinum" rating in the AICTE-CII survey, showcasing its strong placement record and effective industry collaboration. Since 2020, the MCA program has been streamlined into a two-year course per AICTE's APH 2020-21 guidelines. Additionally, the department expanded its academic scope by introducing the M.Sc. Computer Science (Data Analytics) program in 2020-21, affiliated with MG University. In 2023, RCSS's Computer Science Department gained recognition as a research centre under Mahatma Gandhi University and announced plans to launch two new undergraduate programs—BCA (Hons.) and B.Sc. Computer Science (Hons.) Data Analytics—alongside a five-year Integrated MCA program starting in 2024-25.
